Hillary's call for unity
 Source: MediaScrape
After receiving the type of ovation normally reserved for a presidential nominee, Hillary Clinton, the Democratic Party's runner-up in a very divided primary season offered a rousing plea to delegates and her supporters for Democratic Party unity. SOUNDBITE: Senator Hillary Clinton saying (English): "Whether you voted for me, or voted for Barack, the time is now to unite as a single party with a single purpose." Clinton left no doubt what she wanted the 18 million voters who supported her in the primaries to do in the general election. SOUNDBITE: Senator Hillary Clinton saying (English): "No way. No how. No McCain." With her husband, former President Bill Clinton, watching from the balcony, Clinton acknowledged the historic nature of her own presidential run. SOUNDBITE: Senator Hillary Clinton saying (English): "To my supporters, my champions -- my sisterhood of the traveling pantsuits - from the bottom of my heart: Thank you." Clinton also had a message for those Democratic voters who are considering voting for Republican John McCain. SOUNDBITE: Senator Hillary Clinton saying (English): "It makes sense that George Bush and John McCain will be together next week in the Twin Cities. Because these days they're awfully hard to tell apart." Although this night clearly belonged to Hillary Clinton, the Obama campaign is hoping that her prime time speech will finally end the rift that has clouded the Democratic Convention.
