I'm Cathy Rankin and for Friday December 15th.... we're bringing you the latest news from around the markets as well as the top movers to look out for today... In Our Headline news today... Wall Street resumed its fourth-quarter rally at it's close Thursday, pushing the Dow Jones industrials to its first close above 12,400 after a series of strong company earnings and a drop in unemployment claims revived investors' confidence in the economy. The market, which stalled earlier this week on interest rate and economic concerns, was reinvigorated by robust quarterly profits from organizations such as Bear Stearns... Lehman Brothers Holdings... and Costco Wholesale Corparation... as well as healthy outlooks from such organizations such as Citigroup Inc. and Honeywell International. Shares rose nearly 3 percent after the investment bank recorded its fifth straight year of record profit. Net income was $563 million, or $4 a diluted share, for the fourth quarter ending November 30th, compared with $407 million, or $2.90 a diluted share, in the year-earlier quarter. In our small cap news today... LodgeNet Entertainment Corp announced yesterday that it has agreed to buy competitor On Command Corp. for $380 million in cash and stock. LodgeNet said it expects the purchase of On Command from Liberty Media Corp. to close in the middle of next year and deliver nearly $1.8 million dollars in revenue. LodgeNet Entertainment Corporation provides interactive television and broadband solutions to hotels, including resort and casino hotels in the United States, Canada, and abroad. Lodgenet opened their trading day up 15% at $26.75 a share with over 1.2 Million shares traded before Thursdays close. HyPower Fuel, Inc. as reported on earlier this week, announced that it has established the date of February 28, 2007 as its first web cast demonstration of the operation of its revolutionary electrolyzer technology, the H2 Reactor. HyPower intends to have independent experts and representatives from member organizations such as the National Hydrogen Association in attendance at the demonstration. Keeping its momentum this week... HyPower previously at $0.23 at the close Wednesday jumped up 36% or $0.31 a share at the close Thursday with over 6 Million shares traded. The Financial Commerce Network, Inc. Announced today the Reverse Merger into Regions Oil & Gas; 1 Billion Dollars in Estimated Oil Reserves. The Financial Commerce Network is currently in negotiations with Thomas International Drilling Management, a Texas corporation, to purchase a 25% stake in their drilling management company. The Financial Commerce Network opened their day up 177% or at $0.07 cents a share with over 6 Million shares traded at yesterday close. And that's it for today's news makers...
