Coast Guard: Missing Boaters Include 4 Children 6/13/06 8am Nefertiti Jaquez The search is on for a family whose boat began taking on water and later sank off the coast of Boynton Beach Sunday night. The Coast Guard got a distress call from a man on the boat who made a may day call. He said the boat was taking on water and sinking about three miles north of Boynton Beach inlet. There were nine people on the boat, including four children. The Coast Guard received the distress call at 10:49 p.m. and immediately launched a rescue helicopter from Air Station Miami and a rescue boat from Station Lake Worth Inlet. The boat driver reported during the distress call that all nine people put on their life jackets. Once the vessel sank, the man continued to communicate with the Coast Guard through a hand held radio. He said the passengers were huddled together in a group as instructed by the Coast Guard. He also said his wife had fractured her leg and was bleeding profusely. Communications with the boat driver were lost at approximately 11:52 p.m.
