Super Metroid - HAS - 00:11:59 FAQ What does "HAS" stand for? HAS stands for Hack Assisted Speedrun. What is the point of a Hack Assisted Speedrun? A hack assisted speedrun aims to defeat the final boss in a video game in as fast a time as possible, using any means necessary. Are there any limits to what you can do? No, as long as you begin the game as normal and defeat the final boss. What are some examples of what you do in your videos? I usually edit the character(s) stats, setting them all to max. This is a rather easy process that many people are familiar with. I then take it a step further, giving myself every single item, weapon, armor, magic, etc. in the game. I then go through and edit all the values to "complete" various parts of a game, such as making the game think I've already completed every dungeon in Legend of Zelda. I may also lower every enemy's health to 0, killing them in one hit. These HAS are stupid and take absolutely no skill, right? While it is true that many people could take the codes I create and complete the game, that's the easy part. Actually searching through the thousands and thousands of variables in each game's code and figuring out which one corresponds to what item/event/boss/etc. is the hard part. Remember, the goal of these videos is to entertain, not display incredible playing skill. Will you be releasing anything else besides HAS? I plan to release more videos showing fun items/locations/events I have found from hacking, but not in "speedrun" fashion. Anything else we should know? If you have a suggestion for a game that you would like to see, send me an email at Courier00@ymail.com or send me a message on YouTube. --- This is my third HAS. It took me awhile to find the right data to "beat" Kraid, Phantoon, Draygon, and Ridley.
