One of the first daytime serials to premiere in a sixty-minute format, Texas, was a spin-off from NBC's Another World and centered on the love to hate her villainess, Iris Cory Carrington Delaney Bancroft, and her exploits in Houston, Texas. Appreciated for its bitchy wit and sexy costuming, Texas initially focused on Iris and her romances with Alex Wheeler and Eliot Carrington but soon transitioned into science fiction and more youth-oriented stories, even going so far as to revamp itself as Texas: The New Generation. While the show improved in ratings and built a loyal, small audience it ultimately ended on New Year's Eve 1982 after only a 2 year run.
