St. Louis Blues Musicians
Duration: 2:03Source: YouTube
Check out this video promoting a St. Louis blues music project by Post-Dispatch reporters Doug Moore, Kevin C. Johnson and videographer Gary Hairlson. St. Louis has a rich history of Blues music and the trio set out to bring awareness to our local blues scene. We followed harmonica player Big George Brock to Clarksdale, Mississippi for a 75th birthday live CD recording at Ground Zero. We profile 16-year old guitar player and vocalist Marquise Knox, Barbara Carr, Arthur Williams, David Dee, Rudy "Silvercloud" Coleman, Boo-Boo Williams, Kim Massie and others. There is a travel piece on the great blues cities Clarksdale, Ms, Memphis, TN and Chicago, IL. Over the past 10 years, the area has lost many blues greats like Henry Townsend, Oliver Sain, Johnnie Johnson to name a few. On June 10, The St. Louis Post Dispatch will have extensive coverage over several sections of the Sunday paper. STLtoday.com will have a great online presentation that will include video interviews, performances, music samples, a timeline and great photos by photographer Huy Richard Mach. If you like the blues, check out this video then drop by STLtoday.com on June 10th.
