United Airlines and Continental Airlines Inc. are in preliminary talks about a merger that would create the largest airline in the world, sources familiar with the situation said on Wednesday. The talks come amid heightened merger activity in the fragmented and highly competitive airline sector, which is emerging from a prolonged slump following the September 11, 2001, attacks on the United States. US Airways Group Inc. last month made an unsolicited bid for larger, bankrupt rival Delta Air Lines Inc. Following right along with recent Merger and Acquisition Trends... ...Citigroup Inc. said Wednesday it has agreed to acquire subsidiaries of Central American financial group for $1.51 billion in cash and stock. Citigroup said its purchase of the subsidiaries, banking and financial intermediaries, including pension and insurance operations in El Salvador...complements a pending acquisition of (Grupo Financiero Uno) Financial Group One, the largest credit card issuer in Central America. In our small cap news today... DiversiFax, Inc. announced today that they issued an 8K announcing they have entered into an agreement and plan of merger with Upper Class Group Limited. DiversiFax, Inc., through its subsidiaries, engages in the ownership, leasing, and operation of coin and debit card pay-per-copy photocopy machines, fax machines, microfilm reader-printers, and accessory equipment. Topping The QualityStocks.net Daily Newsletter leader by percentage gained... DiversiFax opened their trading day up 172% or at $3.00 per share with over 14,000 shares traded at the close. Guidance Software, Inc. announced today the pricing of its initial public offering of 5,000,000 shares of its common stock at $11.50 per share (before underwriting discounts and commissions). Of those shares, the Company is selling 3- ¼ million shares and selling stockholders are selling 1 -- ¾ million shares. This week is set to be the busiest of the year for IPOs in general, with 22 worth more than $3.4 billion scheduled. Guidance Software, Inc develops solutions that search, identify, recover and deliver digital information in a forensically sound and cost-effective manner. The solutions provide an enterprise investigative infrastructure that enables corporations, government and law enforcement agencies to conduct effective digital investigations and respond promptly to other large-scale data collection needs.
