I'm Hikaru Takemoto.We are Fukiai High school students.Why must we stop global warming?Let us show you what is happening in the world.The climate of the world has been changing. Some countries had badly affected by typhoons, hurricanes, and so on. In Africa, infectious diseases have increased. At the North and South poles, the ice is melting and animals are in danger. If global warming proceed more and more, nations get serious damage.In 1997, many countries came together to make a protocol to stop climate change. Countries that ratify this protocol have to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide and five other greenhouse gases that they emit. But there is some people doubt feasibility of the protocol.We can't prevent global warming by ourselves. The whole nation should take immediate action.Then we focused on education. If the school provides more opportunities for children to learn about the environment, they would be more active when it comes to solve environmental issues.In class, we learn about climate change, and other environmental issues. We sometimes share information with overseas students. This way, we can learn about how environmental issues are dealt with around the world. We sometimes debate environmental issues, and watch the videos about climate change.This graph shows the results of our questionnaire given to 280 high school students at Fukiai High School. These statistics suggest that for young people education is a very good way to learn about the environment. Children the next generation of adults must learn how to better protect the earth. So school should increase opportunities to study about environmental issues.No act is too small if it will help improve the state of the environment..
