Recovering from Domestic Abuse

KEAN: In the Cambodian countryside and in the cities, women are a driving force in society. 
But within the confines of their own homes, many women are victims of domestic violence. We look now at this growing, and real phenomenon.STORY:There are no official statistics, but an estimated one out of every four women are the target of domestic abuse. In the past, men were required to serve the bride-to-be's family for a few years so the parents could make sure he was trustworthy. That custom has died out these days. The Cambodian Women's Crisis Center or CWCC, runs a shelter for battered women. 
Here women and their children try to rebuild their lives after fleeing from home. Some learn to cook, others to sew and some even learn hairdressing so they can support themselves once they leave. 
Thirty-year-old Huong Him escaped from her house and abusive husband two months ago. She has been living in the centre with her three boys.[Huong Him, Domestic Abuse Victim]:"Now I am happy that I can stay here with my children and stay away from my husband. He cannot beat me anymore."
[Oung Canthol, Executive Director, CWCC]:"I see that the biggest cause to the domestic violence is the seizure of power in the family. The husband has the power and he does not want his wife to complain. Another cause is our tradition
