Lauren's Favorite 2007
 Source: ClipSyndicate
We continue to look back at our favorite stories of 2007 and tonight it's Lauren Shehadi's turn. Before she moved to Minot, she saw the Dreamcatchers on Extreme Makeover and wanted to be a part of the league, this July, she got that chance. Her and Gaylen Ness spent some time with them at the ballpark. Lauren Shehadi: It's a league that knows no boundaries, where baseball and happiness are paramount, for local North Dakota children, it's a league all their own. Get your game face on, you ready, it's coming to you The Dreamcatchers range in size and strength, gender, and ability, but they unite every Thursday during the summer in Minot with a common love. Michelle Bliven, Dreamcatchers Founder:A lot of kids say 'Is it ball today, is it ball today, and I know Aaron knows when it's ball.' He really looks forward to it, I know all the kids do. Michelle Bliven pioneered the league five years ago and the community response has been overwhelming, sponsors, food donations, Extreme Makeover Home Edition even sprucing up their very own diamond. It was a vision stemming from her love for her son and has grown into a pastime in its own right, one that has touched people all over the world. Bliven: It all started because I wanted Aaron to be able to play ball, he had gotten to the point where he couldn't play t-ball anymore, he would have to move up into the next league and there was concern about his safety and the safety of the other kids, so he spent one year not playing ball. He went and watched his brother and sister and I know he just loved it and wanted to play and I thought, it can be done, anything can be done. Anything is possible if you're a Dreamcatcher...in a time where true team togetherness and comradery are hard to come by, these children have it all figured out. On the diamond, they're fierce competitors, in life, they're fighters, one thing is for sure...Lou Gehrig was right...There is no room in baseball for discrimination. It is our national pastime and a game for all. Lou Gehrig also said that he was the luckiest man on the face of the earth, but I think he may have some competition. From the field of dreams, Lauren Shehadi, KX Sports
