23.08.2007 The 46th edition of Struga Poetry Evenings will be officially opened Thursday in Struga with an interpretation of the poem "Longing for the South" ("T'ga za jug") in Macedonian and in Danish language. According announcements, the four-day poetry event will be attended by around 30 authors from 25 countries on all continents. The names include: this year's winner of the "Golden Wreath" award - Mahmoud Darwish from Palestine, Island's poet and songwriter of Bjork, Sjon, and contemporary poet Carolyn Forche from the USA. The festival days will consist of poetry readings, literary meetings, promotions of poetry books and discussions dedicated to modern writing. A promotion of the "Pleiades" edition is foreseen, including authors from Island, Denmark, USA, Albania, Belgium, Austria and a selection of our author Mateja Matevski. Poetry of young poets will be promoted in the multimedia poetry reading "Night Without Punctuation" with a small musical performance of the poet Sjon. The festival will be closed on Sunday with the traditional international poetry reading "Bridges" and with presenting the "Golden Wreath", "Miladinov Brothers" and "Diaspora Poetry" awards.
