A nearly 45 minute high speed chase with police ended with the capture of a hit and run suspect who allegedly injured four police officers.The state patrol used the pit maneuver and then rammed the suspect's car into a wall. The chase took police through side streets and the interstate. At one time the man was traveling on the wrong way on Interstate 20. Police say he was a desperate hit and run driver who rammed patrol cars anddrove very fast down busy streets as he tried to make his getaway. Dozens of police officers from Atlanta and the state patrol had followed a hit and run suspect for miles as he drove through neighborhood streets. And the suspect drove the wrong way down Interstate 20. It started at Edgewood andPeachtree when an Atlanta Police Department motorcycle officer pulled over the driver of a pickup truck. "The suspect started his vehicle and dragged the officer, causing knee and arm injuries," said Lisa Keyes of the Atlanta Police Department. A 45 minute high speed pursuit then followed. "Our whole trip home we kept seeing police cars...just fly by," said witness Christopher Galloway. It ended at the Amsterdam Walk parking lot near Piedmont Park. The suspect was boxed in on a dead end street that leads into the shopping area.
