ANCHOR: Japan's top game developers gathered at the annual New Generation World Hobby Fair 2008 over the weekend. NTD's Yukichi Negishi brings us there to see all the latest trends. STORY: At this year's exhibition most of the companies are showcasing their new games for the Nintendo Wii and DS platforms. Game publisher Bandai Namco featured its newest title Active Life: Outdoor Challenge. Players take advantage of the motion sensor Wii controller and a stepping mat to play over a dozen mini games. Nintendo had players racing in Mario Kart Wii and batting it up in Mario Super Sluggers. Expect Super Sluggers on store shelves come August. Dozens of other game publishers had game booths packed with eager kids and parents. And there were also some games that don't require a TV to enjoy. Japanese toy company Epoch had a life size version of their popular baseball board game. They launched their latest version of their baseball game in celebration of their 50th anniversary. Also at the exhibition were manga comic books and their authors on hand to sign autographs. Video game characters also made an appearance for their fans. This is Yukichi Negishi NTD, Chiba, Japan.
