The fourth forum of the Africa Aids Vaccine programme drew partcipants from the 36 states of the federation and members of the international community. Addressing the gathering of medical practitioners and researchers, the Minister of State for health Chief Gabriel Adauku is optimistic that the development of HIV Aids vaccine will reverse the negative impact of the disease in the economy. Soundbite: Man speaking (ENGLISH) "This forum believes that HIV vaccine is possible. This shows commitment in the partnership to see a world that is free of Aids in the near future. It is obvious that with such efforts, scientific knowledge on developing and preventing vaccine will improve". The chairman of the Africa Aids Vaccine programme Pontiano Calibo said that fixing a time for the development of Aids vaccine is not guaranteed as the project is fixed with challenges. Soundbite: Man speaking (ENGLISH) " We have so many trials going on, so many vaccine candidates that are being tried, a few years ago they are very very few and every minute we go through the meeting with the committee you hear about new new advances, there has been more investments, more money, the challenges are scientific, financial and all these are been addressed" Nigeria, Africa and the global committee with the development of the vaccine to prevent the spread of the disease that have claimed so many lives especially in Africa.
