Michael Phelps is still coming to terms with becoming the first Olympic competitor to win eight gold medals at one games. The US swimming hero broke compatriot Mark Spitz's seven gold tally at the weekend when the 4x100 medley relay team took the gold in the Water Cube. Natalie Coughlin, who won gold in the women's 100-metres backstroke, said: "As a person, he reminds me of a little brother more than anything. He is normal, like every other kid, can be annoying, but can be a really great guy at the same time. He's like that little brother I've never had." Ryan Lochte, who won gold in the 200 metres backstroke and the 4x200 metres freestyle plus bronze medals in the 400m individual medley and the 200m individual medley, revealed the swimmers talk about anything but their sport.
