MSNBC Barack Obama Wins Mississippi
Duration: 8:18Source: YouTube
Considering that he began as a political unknown running against an established political dynasty, Barack Obama is running an impressively organized and masterfully executed ethical presidential campaign. He builds a broader base of support in the Democratic Party, he promotes the use of a bi-partisan working majority so that Washington can work more efficiently, and he inspires our young citizens to get involved in the political process. If President Obama can run the government as well as he runs his campaign, then he will be a great president. There is much to be admired about a man who builds his reputation from scratch rather than using the family name to claim entitlement to our highest office. Family dynasties are counter to the principles of our founders, particularly George Washington who voluntarily limited himself to two terms as an unselfish reminder that he believed in true democracy. Hillary Clinton's campaign has had financial troubles, infighting, and confusion about the role of her husband, the ex-President. Her campaign has also been non-transparent. The fact that she has used $5 million of her own personal assets to loan her cash strapped campaign should require that she immediately release her personal financial statements in accordance with campaign finance rules. Instead, she has stubbornly and deliberately avoided the demand, thus asking for the votes of people whom she is knowingly deceiving. Hillary is running against Obama based on her experience. Her first and only elected position began in 2002 when she moved to New York, a heavily Democratic state, to run for the Senate against a Republican. Is that experience? Or is it political opportunism? According to the latest New York Times/CBS News Poll, Obama is viewed by most Democrats as the candidate best able to defeat Senator John McCain. Why? Because America needs a candidate who brings a different perspective to a debate vs. John McCain on the Iraq War. This different perspective entails the refusal of using war as our primary means of diplomacy. America absolutely needs to hear this debate on the grandest political stage so that it will forever be a part of our consciousness. With Hillary as the nominee, she is no position to make this argument. Barack Obama will debate based upon superior judgment whereas Hillary will only be able to propose an exit strategy. Whose military strategy would America trust more? Hillary Clinton's or John McCain's? Senator Barack Obama has successfully proven that he can take on the experience argument by promoting his message of superior judgment, his track record of superior organization, and his demand for a change in the way Washington does business. Alternately, Hillary cannot run against McCain on experience, judgment or change. America rightfully embraces Senator Obama's message of ending the warmongering philosophy that has cost this nation so dearly.
