With nearly 30-thousand rounds played each season this week's featured course 'On the Green' is a favorite with many. Perry Olson shows us Mandan's Prairie West. Only in its second decade of existence, Prairie West Golf Course in Mandan has quickly become a favorite among players in the Bismarck-Mandan area...and all around the region. Built in 1994, it is starting to mature into the course that was originally envisioned. (Brad Olson - Director of Golf Operations) Some of the hazards now are becoming the hazards we planned them to be. The people that have played here can see that now it plays a lot different. Prairie West offers something for everyone. A beginner will enjoy a round of 18 and the scratch golfer will find challenges as well. We do have some length. If you play the back tees you can make it lengthy and if the wind is blowing it becomes really tough. It is really a course for everyone though. With the season ticking toward its conclusion, Olson says his goal like every year is to extend it as far into the fall as possible. I'd kind of like that. There was one year where we almost made it to Thanksgiving. In North Dakota our season is so short, if we can extend it, I say let's do it!
