VVH-TV reporter Chris Irvine visited The Parrish Art Museum's Business Council annual wine tasting event "Two Forks and a Cork" featuring fine wines from East End Long Island vineyards. The Business Council is a network of local and regional business leaders with a strong interest in promoting the vitality of the East End through support of the Parrish Art Museum. Members receive public recognition of their involvement, invitations to Business Council events, special discounts, and free admission to the Museum. The Business Council holds three events a year designed to provide members with an opportunity to increase their visibility within the East End community, to meet other business leaders, and to link the name of their firms with an important cultural presence on Long Island. Membership is open to all businesses. The Parrish is located in the heart of Southampton Village on historic Job's Lane. Built in 1898, the Italianate-style building sits on 2.6 acres of peaceful, shaded gardens. The grounds are decorated with various sculpture reproductions from the original Parrish collection, including eighteen marble busts of Roman emperors and a full-length marble copy of the Augustus of Prima Porta from the Vatican collection in Rome. The East End's beauty and light have attracted artists to the area since the mid-1800s. Today, well known as a summer resort, the Hamptons are a perfect year-round destination for those interested in arts and culture. Visitors can enjoy a wealth of attractions devoted to the visual and performing arts from Westhampton Beach to Montauk, including museums, art galleries, artists' gardens, historical sites, theaters, shopping villages and vineyards.www.parrishart.org 631 283 2118(c) WVVH-TV 2008 all rights reserved
