Martin Short joined the cast for SCTV's third season. Meanwhile, the popular Bob and Doug McKenzie characters (played by Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas) were forced to cope with their mainstream success, the polka-loving Shmenge Brothers (John Candy and Eugene Levy) made their first appearance and Bill Murray dropped in for the soap opera parody "The Days of the Week."
