Former sprint star Marion Jones has admitted using performance-enhancing drugs. Apparently the multiple world and Olympic champion confessed in a letter to friends and family on Thursday that she had used steroids to prepare for the 2000 Sydney Olympics - where she won three golds and two bronze medals, still the best performance by a female athlete at a Games. Jones is also said to have revealed in the letter that former coach Trevor Graham first administered a substance known as "the clear" to her in 1999. It's a performance-enhancing drug linked to the Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative (BALCO) - currently under investigation by the United States Government. Jones had consistently denied any wrongdoing. SOUNDBITE: (English) "I believe in myself and what I have achieved and the people that matter to me are my fans and my family and they know that everything that I have done in this sport and in my career is truthful. I've done the right thing and to me that's what matters." SUPERCAPTION: Marion Jones. The American, who turns 32 next week and is reportedly in serious debt, will plead guilty to steroid use charges to a US District Court. She is expected to be sentenced to three months in jail and stripped of her Sydney medals. <저작권자(c)연합뉴스.무단전재-재배포금지> Sprint queen Marion Jones ready to plead guilty
