There were two emerging themes from Mark Allen's book, "The Next Generation Corporate Universities": 1. Corporate universities are being viewed more as a strategic entity, not the tactical day-to-day training. They are acting as a strategic partner to the business, helping to advance the company and achieve the mission-related goals. 2. There are more methods beyond classroom training or e-learning available for developing people. There is an increasing amount of innovative solutions available, and more often than not organizations are employing a wide-variety of methods. Make sure the corporate university is one umbrella with a knowledgeable individual as the handler; this person is also responsible for integrating the various functions. Any organization-wide change should include the corporate university. Culture-change is a people effort and if it involves people, it should involve the corporate university.
