Small town Golf courses dot the landscape across the state of North Dakota. Many nine hole layouts are there to be discovered like today's course in Westhope. The Westhope Golf Course will challenge you not because of its length...but because of its challenging greens. Perry Olson talks to the course designer today, 'On the Green'. (Perry Olson - On the Green) Many golf courses have them Augusta National may be the most famous for it I'm talking about names for holes and at the Westhope Golf Course, that was the plan when Darrell Henry started designing the course that people play today. (Darrell Henry - Course Designer) Every one of the holes had a name when I designed it. Number nine is called 'Putters Nightmare' and I think that anyone who plays the hole would believe that because it is such a tough putting hole. Westhope offers a course that although it is young first played in 1991 offers players a wide range of shots from a par five over a water hazard to tricky shots into small greens. A score of 36 par for the course is an accomplishment. (Darrell Henry) We have been really lucky to have the support of the town. It is very reasonable and I hope someone comes up and takes advantage of our golf course. Larry Derr of Glenburn will be able to do just that.
