Measure 49 County Commissioners - Truth of Large Developers
Duration: 1:14Source: YouTube
Many voters do not realize that Measure 49 is correcting measure 37. It may be surprising to many Oregon voters to know that Measure 37 was backed by large corporate developers who wanted to turn Oregon into an overdeveloped land, like say, California or parts of texas. They have no urban growth boundary to help prevent urban sprawl.. Not surprisingly the No on 49 campaign is also being funded by the same group, large scale developers, and realtors, and outofstate interest groups. They played "spin doctor" and spun the idea of just compensation and property rights. What voters did not realize is counties had no way of paying claims. So their recourse under Measure 37, waive all property protections of farm and forest lands. This means people could buy a piece of land which was exclusive farm use, with some of the best farm soils, and not intent to even use it for that purpose. Rather, pouring cement, blacktop, and buildings ontop. Many voters were surprised that large scale subdivisions were being proposed in areas of forested hillside on their way to the beautiful Oregon coast, or that large lumber companies were also claiming 10,000 and even 60,000 acres of forest lands, so they can strip the land and zone for subdivisions. No one wants Oregon to look like another LA. Vote Yes on Measure 49. Measure 49 will help protect Oregon and restore the fairness to all Oregonians. We don't have say so of what people do with their lands, but if I have to abide by certain laws of zoning, then they should as well. They should not get special privileges because of the time they purchased the property. This is just another way they are trying to get more money at the expense of all of us in Oregon. Other states have had similar measures on their ballots (especially those to the north and to the south) all of which have been defeated. They used Oregon as an example of something that has gone wrong. Before this, Oregon was the looked upon highly as that which has gone RIGHT. This reputation has been given by our healthy land use practices and protections. Let's get that reputation back into Oregon. Don't be misled.
