Crews Looking For Hotspots In NW Dade Brush Fire 3/20/06 5PM Tina Varona NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and Forestry officials are keeping a watchful eye over a fire that shut down two major roads Wednesday burning 400 acres in Northwest Miami-Dade. By Thursday morning, the fire was 75% contained and firefighters are watching the hot spots to try and make sure they don't flare up again. On Wednesday, forestry officials set backfires that prevented the rapidly growing fire from spreading any further. Even though it was breezy and dry, which added fuel for the fire, the northwest direction of the winds kept the fire from spreading smoke into the heavily populated eastern areas. Despite the direction of the wind, the fire itself came close to property, concerning many residents in the westernmost fringes of the county
