The kindness of strangers

So says a postcard written by Richard Fricker of Munich, Germany and delivered to us here at the South China Morning Post in Hong Kong. The postcard has a simple request: to send a birthday card to his wife, Ingeborg, who is turning 80 on November 23. He also sent three US dollars for expenses when fulfilling this request. We're not sure what to think about this: was this a real request or part of some global social experiment? While we try to learn more about Richard Fricker, we decided to take him at his word and go ahead and send his wife a birthday card from Hong Kong.
