The European Central Bank is expected to keep rates at 1% Thursday. But all eyes will be on ECB President Trichet’s plans to purchase covered bonds. The proposed amount of $85.7 billion is "significant for the ECB" which has never used quantitative easing before, Michael Mewes from JPMorgan Asset Management said.
