As reported in the previous episodes 24-29, my colony of yellow paper wasp (Polistes rothneyi, family Vespidae) was under attack by a black-tailed hornet (Vespa ducalis, family Vespidae) for seven times while I was watching. And the attacker was distinctively marked with white paint on her thorax. A week later, another hornet was spotted near the nest. She was not the marked one. Brief examinations told her that the nest did not contain pupae any more. The disappointed scout flew away empty ...
