iReport — LA SOGA - The Movie This film has special meaning to me because it was directed by my very talented cousin Josh Crook. With his brother Jeff Crook, (cuz II) he has co-directed The Fittest, Sucker Punch, Ghetto Dawg 2, Salvage, Rockaway and The Level. La Soga is his first solo piece. Produced in Spanish, it’s subtitled in English. The film was recently featured at the Toronto International Film Festival. (if link doesn't function, right click mouse, and select "Open in New Window”). The film is an in your face reality check depicting the harsh everyday social conditions in the Dominican Republic, flowing seemlessly from jaw dropping and shocking to touching and beautiful. Indeed, a reflection of real life and based on real events. Perhaps I’m bias, and for obvious reasons, yet the movie had me at the edge of my seat, engrossed by its tempo and inspired by its story line. A fantastic film with every element you could expect and all the ones you wouldn't.
