The Guitarrons of Pirque (or The Twenty-five Penances of a Guitar) was produced and edited in digital video Hi-8. At the onset we are introduced to the magic of the Song to the Divine, expertly interpreted by the last remaining masters of the 25 string guitarron. From there we are joyfully carried along to a country party, where, between cheers, rancheras, cuecas and payas, we enjoy a parade of the best of the Song to the Mundane. The protagonists talk about their lives and, matter-of-factly, testify to the state of this aspect of our cultural identity. The sound track was recorded live on location. The final edition attempts to illustrate the magic that enveloped us that night in Santa Rita, carried away by the decimas and the warmth of the bonfire.
