Am Freitag den 23.10.2009 gegen 18:45 Uhr ereignete sich an der "Raststätte Urbacher Wald" auf der A3 Richtung Köln ein schwerer Verkehrsunfall. Nach Angaben der Polizei waren sechs Fahrzeuge beteiligt. Sechs Personen wurden verletzt und vom DRK versorgt. Im Einsatz waren neben der Polizei die Feuerwehr Dierdorf, das DRK mit sechs Rettungswagen und einem Notarztfahrzeug. Auf der Autobahn waren zwei Spuren gesperrt. Dadurch staute sich der Verkehr auf mehrere Kilometer zurück.
