全線非電化単線の地方鉄道路線にして貨物線でもあります。特にこの前面展望動画の一番最後の東浦駅で衣浦臨海鉄道という貨物鉄道が分岐しています。KE65形が東浦駅でタンクのような物を牽引して停車しています。この後、武豊線経由でJR貨物線区に入っていきます。民家や工業地帯が混在している路線というのが特徴ですね。
