Railways Meet Internet TV with RailTV
RailTV.tv offers rail enthusiasts a high quality, downloadable, on demand television service with immediate access to content that usually has to be bought on DVD on the high street or through mail order.
RailTV.tv is Aggregator's first global offering and will enable the publisher/platform operator to build an international community. For launch Aggregator has secured content from railway content providers and intends to continue to grow its portfolio. Three major libraries have already been signed, in addition to numerous smaller video producers, with content that covers a range of genres such as steam, diesels, electric, archive, heritage, model and modern traction. This wealth of content will retain the interest of all railway enthusiasts.
Rail enthusiasts have long been underserved when it comes to TV, video and DVD content and currently, the only way to access track and train DVD content is by buying; direct from the DVD producer, through an on-line store e.g. Amazon, through retail outlets e.g. WH Smith or at smaller railway outlets. RailTV.tv solves this problem by providing consumers with the ability to ‘rent' DVD quality video, by downloading on-demand to a PC via a broadband connection.
"Currently railway enthusiasts are being underserved in terms of the content provided to them," remarks Chris Griffin co-founder and Director of Programming at Aggregator. "These individuals have no access to convenient material for what is a hobby they have great devotion for!"
The RailTV.tv platform is also extremely user-friendly and provides a convenient viewer experience. Costs are highly flexible and are based on the model set by Aggregator's first product offering Moë.tv, a ground-breaking TVoBB Russian language portal that provides a broad range of TV content to over half a million Russians living in the UK. Like Moë.tv, RailTV.tv has no mandatory subscription charges, meaning consumers can obtain content on a pay-per-view basis of £1.40 to £2.80 per programme. This is the first time that rail enthusiasts have been able to rent this type of programming which can cost up to £15 per title to buy. A subscription service is also soon to be launched in which unlimited content can be downloaded for one set monthly fee. As an enticing promotional opportunity consumers registering before 22nd April will be awarded £5 free credit.
