The ING New York City Marathon is an annual marathon that runs through all five boroughs of New York City. The race is organized by New York Road Runners (NYRR) and is one of the World Marathon Majors. It is 42.195 km or 26.219 miles long and with up to 37,000 participants one of the largest marathons in the world.
The 2009 race will be the marathon's 40th running and will include special celebrations of this important milestone. It takes place on November 1, 2009, and will be broadcast live online.
