The Players Championship is the highest prized golf tournament and is sometimes referred to as the "Fifth Major", however, it does not have official major status.
The Players Championship takes place at TPC at Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, and is best known for the single most famous hole in professional golf, the Stadium Course's Par 3, 137-yard #17, also called "the Island Green". The winner receives an allocation of 40 points towards his Official World Golf Ranking.
