Alphas is an exciting sci-fi thriller from the SyFy Channel. Zak Penn, writer for The Avengers and X-Men: The Last Stand, is joined by Michael Karnow in creating the Alphas universe. The series centers around five people that discover their ability to stretch their brain power beyond natural limits. The characters form an elite team known as Alphas - extraordinary people with superhuman mental and physical powers.

The Alphas team exists to help the United States government fight crimes committed by other Alphas. The team is a part of the Defense Criminal Investigation Service (DCIS) of the U.S. Department of Defense.

David Strathairn, Academy Award nominee and Emmy Award winner, plays the role of Dr. Lee Rosen. Dr. Rosen is the team's leader, and is also a famous neurologist and psychiatrist who specializes in studying Alpha capabilities. As the team races to solve crimes and defeat enemies, Dr. Rosen struggles to keep the team together. Personality differences and clashing backgrounds threaten to tear the group apart and thwart their ability to defeat the bad guys.

The Alphas cast is a mixture of new faces and seasoned veteran actors. David Strathairn's credits include Temple Grandin, and Good Night, and Good Luck. Malik Yoba is known for his breakout role in the popular urban cop series New York Undercover. Ryan Cartwright has appeared on Mad Men, but is best known for his role as the lovable British lab assistant on Bones. Warren Christie, Laura Mennell and Azita Ghanizada complete the cast.
