American Dad is a satirical animated comedy from the minds that created Family Guy. Building off the success of Family Guy, Seth MacFarlane teamed up with two former Family Guy writers to create American Dad. The show's pilot episode aired on February 6, 2005 after the conclusion of Super Bowl XXXIX. American Dad began its regular appearances on May 1, 2005. The show airs on Fox following Family Guy on Sunday evenings and will soon start its sixth season.
American Dad follows the adventures of extreme right-wing CIA agent Stan Smith. Each episode follows the whacky escapades of Smith as he battles to keep America safe from terror and evil while interacting with his family. His wife Francine is the stereotypical housewife, good in the kitchen and in Stan's opinion she belongs nowhere else. His daughter Hayley is a rebellious teenager who quite often upsets Stan with her actions. Stan's son Steve is the typical dork trying to be cool. The families "pets", Roger and Klaus, became part of the family in the most ridiculous ways. Stan rescued Roger, an alien, from Area 51 and while he lives with the family he is never allowed to leave the house. Their fish Klaus is the result of a CIA experiment gone horribly awry. Klaus has a German accent because the CIA tried to give the goldfish a German man's brain.
America Dad is a whacky comedy that sees its lead character Stan protect his beloved America from terrorist attacks no matter what it takes.
