It's hard to believe, but the Hockey season kicks off this weekend for the MSU Club hockey team. The Beavers return 18 players with experience under first year head coach Sheldon Schneider and will be particuarly strong at the forward and goaltender positions. Because of the solid experience, the Beavers are looking forward to a successful season. Sheldon Schneider, MSU Club Hockey Coach: Our forwards are looking very good, we do have to make some adjustments on defense and we're doing that this year, of course the physical play is going to be an important part, but we're looking for a little more finesse, a little more goal scoring, that's how we're looking to develop. Wade Regier, SR Forward: We have four solid lines but I like our two forward starting lines, very finesseand very skill-oriented, so I hope to see a lot of goals this season. Out of the four years I have been here, this is probaby the most depth we've had as a hockey team Steve Stoicescu, SR Defenseman: Last year we had a rebuilding year, and this year a lot of returnees, I think guys are excited, new players new faces, we're ready to go. And the Beavers will need that depth as they face another solid schedule this season. We do have a couple big games mainly in January, we play Oklahoma Sooners, they are ranked eighth, they are going to be good competition. We also go down to Iowa and play Iowa, we always have good rivalries against them and of course Bottineau, we love playing Bottineau and they love playing us, so we have four games against them this year. The Beavers open their season this Friday, Saturday and Sunday when they host St. Cloud State.
