with beijing's 2008 olympics less than six months away, some of the world's brightest sporting stars have their eye on a trip to the chinese capital. at the impressive water cube, venue for the official diving test event, there were few competitors more impressive than great britain's 13-year-old thomas daley, the schoolboy who has dreams of olympic success. soundbite: (english) "yes definitely it's a lot different to what all my school friends are doing right now. it's a lot different to most children's lives and for me to have that life is just amazing. it's something that i have worked so hard for, trained so hard for. commit, like sacrificed lots of stuff to do with my school work and my friends and stuff like that and the dream is starting to come true. supercaption: thomas daley, 13-year-old british diver. the sacrifices appear to have paid off - daley and partner blake aldridge took bronze in the 10 metre synchronised platform at this fina world cup event, winning a place in the chinese capital in august. and more impressively, the youngster managed seventh in the individual event, thanks to a nerve-wracking last dive, once again ensuring a spot at the 2008 games. soundbite: (english) "it was very nerve-wracking to go into the final with all those names up there. but to come away with an olympic games spot and to be going to the olympic games is an absolutely amazing achievement for me. and my dream come true." supercaption: thomas daley. soundbite: (english) "yeah the olympics is going to be really like a good experience for me and hopefully i will get all the experiences i need and get olympic experience under my belt and when i get to london 2012, i should have already gone through it all and hopefully be able to know everything and go there and take the gold." supercaption: thomas daley. daley will be 14 when these games get underway on the 8th of august, but he will still be the youngest british competitor ever to compete at an olympics.
