Democrats in Pennsylvania hit the polls early on Tuesday (April 22) to make their choice in the presidential nominating race between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, with Clinton aiming for a big win to keep in the race for the White House. The New York senator is favoured in Pennsylvania, but needs a convincing victory to gain ground on Obama in the Democratic race and convince party leaders she is the best candidate to face Republican John McCain in November's presidential election. At a polling station in Philadelphia's Chinatown district, queues formed before the voting booths were open. Wayne Davis, a truck driver who says his number one issue is the economy and gas prices proud to say who he is voting for. "I'm voting for Obama because it's time for a change." Kirk Parsons, however, says he's a Clinton supporter. "I think she really has the experience and we also know what kind of experience and we also know what kind of candidate, what kind of person she is and I'm just not sure who Obama is. I think there's a lot more to know about the man," Parsons says. Obama is expected to sweep Philadelphia, and collect votes from affluent voters in the suburban surrounding area. Philadelphia native Edie Cugini cast her vote for Clinton and says she hopes the New York senator takes the state as a whole. "I think she has more experience.
