American actress and singer Ashlee Simpson was named the new Skechers spokesperson on Wednesday (October 25). The 22-year old is the third in a string of high-profile stars to promote the American shoe brand - following advertising campaigns by Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. Simpson said she was pleased at her chance to promote Skechers. "You know I'm excited to be a part of Skechers, and I think that it's fun cause I get to wear tennis shoes and I like tennis shoes. So you know I think that the ads are great fun and I'm happy to be a part of it," she said. The Texan-born star is best known for her singing career, with her first two albums, 'Autobiography' and 'I Am Me', selling six million copies worldwide. She also had her own reality TV series called 'The Ashlee Simpson Show' on MTV in 2004. She's combined acting and singing and is currently starring as the murderous vixen 'Roxie Hart' in the hit London musical "Chicago" - which is on its ninth year in the West End. "Chicago has been wonderful - it's been a dream come true," she said. Ashlee's big sister - singer, actress and reality TV star Jessica Simpson - flew into London to watch her perform. Simpson's five-week run with the show will end on Saturday (October 28).
