I'm Sebastian Rea. I grew up in Astoria, Queens of NY. I attend SUNY Purchase College. I'm 18 and a New Media/ Film Major. The Illegal immigration issue is a huge mess-up on behalf of the U.S. government. I believe my fellow students who aren't legal residents shouldn't be penalized for a crime they didn't commit. These minors were brought here as children and unable to make their own decisions. As they get older, they're being told to choose different futures because they don't have papers. They can't afford colleges and even after they graduate, they can't legally work. It bothers me when a friend of mine tells me he or she can't get into a desired college, not because their grades are poor, or their experience is lacking, but because they were brought to this country as children. Now they're paying for their parents mistakes and in danger of becoming a lost generation. Pass the DREAM Act now because America was built on the aspiring dreams of individuals seeking a better life. Who are we to turn our backs on them now?
