Unabridged video of the Director's Series conversation between quintessential L.A. artist Robert Irwin and LACMA Director Michael Govan. The two discuss Irwin's aesthetic philosophy and key works, his design of the Getty's Central Garden and Dia:Beacon, his role in LACMA's famed Art and Technology exhibition of 1971, and plans for a large-scale palm garden on the new LACMA campus. An originator of the light-and-space movement and a pivotal figure in installation and environmental art, Irwin will be featured in the exhibition of Southern California art opening at LACMA in August 2007. The conversation took place before a full house in the Bing Theater on March 8, 2007. An audio-only version is available below.
