The DHS Jazz Band is getting ready to compete again at the Monterey Jazz Festival's Next Generation Competition, April 21-23, 2006. Mike McMullen (woodwinds) and Joe Gilman (piano) of Sacramento's own 'Capital Jazz Project' spent an evening with Fred and the jazz band rehearsing for the upcoming competition. Mike McMullen is also Director of the UC Davis Jazz Band. Last year Fredrick Lange and the DHS Jazz Band placed second and was asked to return last September to play at the 48th Annual Monterey Jazz Festival.
