Though public education and healthcare are very important to me and my family, the Governor's Gross Receipts Tax increase goes too far and we cannot afford it right now. The State of Illinois needs to tighten its belt before we embark on record spending. The reality is Governor Blagojevich's $6 billion tax increase will raise the cost of goods and services for everyone and it will be a job killer. The irony is his plan -- the largest tax increase in Illinois history -- will hurt the very families it aims to protect by raising prices and driving away jobs.
