Many dressed in black Rambo tee-shirts, headbands and boxing paraphernalia. The fans were torn between Rambo and Rocky - pretty evenly divided I'd say. He had a most unusual body guard for the evening - billionaire retail magnate Sir Philip Green (of Top Shop fame) of all people. Sly spent loads of time with the fans - he made at least four trips to the fan-line signing everything in sight; photos, books and boxing gloves. No head to head fan pics though - had to keep moving to give as many autographs as possible. Some were disappointed because they'd travelled from afar and waited eight hours or more and couldn't get their bits and pieces signed, my fan-mates from Amsterdam among them. Better luck next time. He did sign my board so I'm a happy bunny. He spent so much time with the waiting-ones that the media got not much time and fewer words from him.
