Blues musicians Rick Franklin and Mike Baytop opened the Summer 2007 Eastern Market Music Series as the first act during the Sunday, 22 July 2007 opening event. Organized by the Capitol Hill Community Foundation in response to the recent devestating fire at the Eastern Market complex the Eastern Market Music Series will present a sampling of the Washington area's best blues, bluegrass, jazz, contemporary, and international musicians, on Sundays from 22 July through 30 September 2007. The musicians will perform at the corner of 7th Street & North Carolina Avenue, S.E., outside of Port City Java.
