CCTV,Lynn,Ma.Surveillance video from an adjacent building captures a bizarre police car accident....one cruiser ends up on top of the other while both officers were responding to a call. Story: A Lynn police officer is fighting for his life after two police cruisers collided into each other overnight while responding to a reported fight in Lynn. Police said the two officers were responding to a 911 call on Verona Street with a report that an officer was chasing an armed suspect on foot. Police said Lt. Christopher Reddy was driving northbound on Western Avenue while Officer Gregory Leblanc was driving westbound on Chestnut Street. Both cruisers violently collided at the intersection around 12:45 a.m. One of the cruisers ended up completely on top of the other cruiser, trapping Leblanc inside the vehicle for a time. Emergency crews had to use Jaws of Life to pull Leblanc from the wreckage. He was airlifted to Brigham and Women's Hospital with "significant injuries," police said. Hospital officials said doctors performed two surgeries on him Saturday. "He's a good guy, and I know his wife, Linda," said Leblanc's friend, Ryan Donovan. "She's a good girl. It's awful." Reddy was conscious and alert after the collision, police said, and he was taken to Salem Hospital. Crews worked all day Saturday repairing the damage from the accident. A gas station across the street has surveillance video of the collision showing the two cruisers crashing into each other. "I saw what happened and wanted to check the camera," said the gas station's manager, Juan Valera. "We got it very good." Police are investigating the collision. The suspect from the Verona Street 911 call was not arrested.
