They've come to Minot to toot their own horns! Some 50 to 60 junior high and high school students from across the state were in Minot today for the 5th annual MSU Brass Fesitval. The day-long workshop included lessons, rehearsals, and even a performance at the end of the day. Organizers say the event draws more students every year and even sees some return visits. Mark Boren says even though they're having to sight-read hard material, the afternoon performance is a real motivator for the kids... (Mark Boren, Minot State University) Basically, we'wanted them an opportunity to demonstrate every thing they learnedl Wtih all fo the music they're doing, it's really tough music. They're really woking hard today and whoever's there... you know it won't be a big audience, but we'll just demonstrate what we've learned and it'll be a good time. A community band concert is slated for this evening at 7:30 at Ann Nicole Nelson Hall.
