I use Dr. Bronner Tea Tree Liquid Soap( http://www.drbronner.com ), and I wash atleast twice a week. Hair doesn't necessarily get dirty after a certain length, it's the scalp that needs to stay clean. And when you focus on washing the scalp good, the soap runs down your hair anyway, so. I fully recommend Dr. Bronner's soaps because not only it's 100% organic, but it really does work as well as people say! I use it for just about every "morning and evening rituals" in the bathroom, it's that good. You can brush your teeth with it, use it as a shave cream, hot bath soak(aroma therapy too), and pretty much everthing else cleaning related that you can think of. Dreadlocks are not dirty, but that's only when you don't wash them often. Some people choose to for personal/religious reasons, but even with my religious reasons for growing dreadlocks, it's not limited to how I'm locking them, as long as they are locking up. I prefer to grow my dreadlocks the natural way, and not forcing it into locks, because after a while it will look a whole lot better in the long run, and, because of the frequent posting of the growing progress, vlogging it on youtube shows how it all began, and how it is now. The key to "letting it go" as they say, is by not combing for now on, while only washing once or twice a week to keep it clean. You probably should wear a beanie a lot so that your hands won't make a habit of wanting to touch it alot. And the reason for that, is in the early days of growing dreadlocks, the hands can accidentally detangle formations that are trying to happen. I find new congos growing all the time, and to just leave it alone, gives a hope that if I do leave it alone, it will lock up much faster, which what I hope it will do. Congos anyone? I have a few!
