Protesting women arrested in Cuba
 Source: PANDORA.TV
They dress all in white...some bearing photos of their jailed husbands on their t-shirts. A Cuban government worker urges them to go home...but the 10 women refuse. (SOUNDBITE) Bertha Soler, "Women in White" Protestor, saying (Spanish): "if you take me home you are going to have to guard the door with dogs so I cant get out, because if you take me home, I am going to leave. I dont want to be at home. Ive abandoned my home, Ive abandoned my children, for my husband. So I am not going to leave [here]." Locking arms in a circle near Revolution Square, the "Women in White" are protesting their husbands 5-year imprisonment on charges of working with the United States to subvert Cubas Communist Party. Female corrections officers pull the protesters apart and arrest them...Screaming "Freedom, Freedom," they are dragged onto a bus. A group of government supporters yell insults at the women and chant, "Long Live Fidel, Long Live Raul." Raul Castro took over power from his ailing brother Fidel this year...with many hoping the new leader would loosen political restrictions in the one-party socialist state. A spokesman for the women said they were later sent back to their homes. Katharine Jackson, Reuters.
